Waaay Beyond the Beach
Yes, the ocean is just a block from the resort, but there's so much more to do — and see.
Las Olas Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale's central entertainment district, is just over a mile away. And within a short drive, there's a whole range of action. See below for all that the Fort Lauderdale area has to offer. Tours and excursions can be booked through the concierge. Call 954-566-8800, extension 5165.
The Great Outdoors
How about a park in your backyard? Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway, is mere steps from the resort. Boasting hiking and biking trails, fishing and wildlife viewing opportunities, and picnic areas, Hugh Taylor is a real urban oasis. For a taste of unspoiled Florida, sign up for the Everglades Day Safari, for a chance to see alligators, manatees and rare birds from an airboat. Be sure to go out solo in a kayak.

Family Attractions
Close to the resort are the 60-acre Flamingo Gardens, Gulfstream Park (horse racing, casino, shops, and restaurants), Riverwalk (restaurants and nightlife), the Seminole Hard Rock Casino, Butterfly World, championship golf at Woodmont Country Club, and the Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi. For information about these attractions and for any help with booking, contact the concierge at 954-566-8800, extension 5165.

Events
The area calendar is chock-full of events. A few to put on your own calendar: IGNITE Broward, a display of art, light, and technology, is scheduled for February. The Tortuga Music Festival takes place on Fort Lauderdale Beach during the spring. The Fort Lauderdale Air Show is scheduled for May, and the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show usually occurs around October/November.

Shopping
South Florida is a mall lover's paradise. The Galleria is walking distance from the resort, Sawgrass Mills offers discounted outlet shopping 15 miles away, and the Aventura Mall is a huge shopping mecca with dining options galore. For high-end outdoor browsing, head south to Miami's Design District.

Food & Drink
Las Olas Boulevard is lined with everything from high-end steakhouses and Brazilian eateries to Korean barbecue and pizza joints — a reflection of just how diverse the Fort Lauderdale area is. For those times when no one can agree on a cuisine, check out Sistrunk Marketplace, a food hall, brew bar, and distillery a few miles inland from the resort. And for a taste of Old Florida, you must visit Mai-Kai, a Polynesian restaurant/entertainment revue that has been around for nearly 70 years. Mai Kai reopened in late 2024 after four years and $20 million in renovations.

Sports
The area is home to professional teams in all the major sports — the Marlins (MLB), the Heat (NBA), the Panthers (NHL), the Dolphins (NFL), and Inter Miami (MLS). No matter what season you travel, you're likely to be in town when there's a good game to catch.
